RAL – A sign of trust for more than 80 years

The core idea of the RAL quality association was born in 1925, when the German industrial sector and the government decided to standardise and clarify technical delivery conditions. The economic and political sectors came together to found the ‘Reich committee for delivery conditions’. Thereinafter referred to as ‘RAL’, the independent institution continues to be responsible for the endorsement of the RAL Gütezeichen (certification mark). RAL has been defending the certification mark system and the term ‘Gütezeichen (certification mark)’ itself against misuse ever since. In its lifespan of more than 80 years, it has become a brand mark for trust. Today, more than 9000 German and foreign companies use the more than 160 RAL Gütezeichen.

In almost all walks of life, the RAL Gütezeichen stands for consumer protection and high-quality products and services. This is safeguarded in a reliable manner by the RAL quality assurance system. Neutrally-determined, stringent quality and testing regulations and constant monitoring and updating of the same set the RAL Gütezeichen apart from the variety of more than 1000 tags.
